Process Technological Unit
The Process Technological Unit is committed to the development of innovative solutions for optimising refinery and petrochemical industry production processes.

The application of the treatments identified by our specialists brings a series of advantages, among which increased process yield, extended plant running cycles, energy saving and cutting maintenance costs.

We offer a wide range of chemicals (some of them patented) from which those most suited to the plant characteristics are selected. Our high level of service and continuous monitoring allow progressively improving our service and assuring our customers’ trust and satisfaction. Some of our tailored treatments have in fact been applied successfully and continuously for more than 30 years.

Chimec is leader since more than 20 years in Thermal Cracking and Visbreaking applications, using technologies able to:
- Increase the plant conversion (Conversion Booster®)
- Extend the running cycle, reducing the fouling impact and improving the thermal exchange
- Improve the quality of the produced fuel oil

In the last years, CHIMEC has been focusing on developing innovative technologies having a reduced environmental impact; three examples are reported here below:

Viscosity Reducer
 
To reduce the viscosity of the Fuel Oil Cracking (FOK) produced by the ethylene plant. It allows achieving greater heat exchange efficiency in the bottom exchangers of the primary fractionator, increased production of dilution steam, increased temperature at the bottom of the column and, consequently, increased production of pyrolitic gasoline.

Salt Dispersant Technology
 
To solve the problems of ammonium salt deposition. Our technology allows preventing the formation of deposits, improving the thermal exchange and removing problems rising from under deposit corrosion, optimising wash water consumption, promoting the regression of already present deposits.
   
Treatments that allow processing “Opportunity Crudes”
 
P-Free film-forming agents for processing crudes with high naphthenic acidity
Metal Scavenger for removing the heavy metals contained in the crude
   
Caustic Replacer
 
Specific additive to replace the caustic soda injected downstream the desalter. It allows reducing sodium contamination in residues, guaranteeing better quality of the fuel oil produced, preventing caustic embrittlement problems and allowing the conversion increase in the plants processing fuel oil (thermal and/or cathalytic).
